KAT FEEK, PGDip, QG

Qualified Professional Genealogist and Family History Researcher

based in Market Deeping, Lincolnshire, England

I’m Kat Feek, a professional genealogist and the face behind Tracing Time.

I am qualified with a Postgraduate Diploma (with Distinction) in Genealogical, Palaeographic, and Heraldic Studies from the University of Strathclyde and over 20 years of experience.

In 2025, I was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Register of Qualified Genealogists. Where I continue my commitment to supporting others in the field and maintaining professional standards, education, and the future of genealogical research.

My passion for genealogy began when I started researching my own family history. As someone who was adopted as an infant, I had the opportunity to research and build family trees for both my adoptive and biological family. This personal experience gave me a strong appreciation for the importance of identity, belonging, and the many forms that family can take.

I have a particular interest in Genetic Genealogy, using DNA testing and match analysis to resolve questions that traditional research can’t always answer.

What began as a personal journey ultimatley led to professional qualification and practice. I’ve since worked with individual and commercial clients across a wide range of research from tracing family lines and solving brick-wall mysteries and uncovering ancestors identities through DNA, to larger scale heritage projects.

For me, genealogy is detective work at its finest. I thoroughly enjoy the process of piecing together clues, uncovering hidden connections, and solving historical puzzles—especially when it leads to meaningful discoveries for clients.

Alongside client research, I’m actively involved in several document archiving and preservation projects, and I run a One-Place Study focused on the village of Frognall in Lincolnshire, where I explore the lives, occupations, and communities that shaped the area.
